About Cat Island Cinema

Jennifer Rolle has been a lover of film since an early age. In 2017, she founded Cat Island Cinema with a vision to create engaging, inclusive stories for groups that are often marginalized in Hollywood. Inclusion within cinema has made vast improvements, but there remains a dearth of sensitive, aspirational narratives of  “seasoned women,” people of color, and LGBTQ communities.

Previously, she was on the Account Management team at Uniworld Group Advertising and Marketing and Communications at Hadassah. A “history nerd,” she has an interest in the Antebellum South, Civil War, and Reconstruction periods. Her documentary “The Black Suffragist Trailblazers of Social Justice” is due for release in Winter 2025, and she is currently in development with a present-day feature drama.  Jennifer attended New York University, where she studied Women’s Studies.    She currently resides in Montclair, New Jersey.

(Fun facts: There is a Cat Island located in the Bahamas, and another just off the coast of Japan with between 120 – 130 cats and fewer than ten human residents.)
